For the first time, players chosen for the All-Star Game will be distinguished by uniform for regular season games.
During the July 4-10 games leading up to the 2011 All-Star break, any players selected for the 82nd Midsummer Classic on July 12 in Phoenix will wear caps and jerseys adorned with stars. Rosters will be announced at noon ET Sunday during the 2011 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show Presented by Taco Bell on TBS.
Two gold stars, outlined with team colors, will be affixed to either side of the MLB silhouetted batter logo on the back of the jersey for all games July 4-10, as well as the back of the cap for all games July 5-10. You will be able to get this look, because during that tribute week, the MLB.com Shop will have those special-star MLB Authentic Collection jerseys from Majestic and caps from New Era.
In addition to the 66 players who are announced Sunday, fans will add the 34th men for each team via the 10th annual All-Star Game Final Vote Sponsored by Sprint. One player from the American League and one from the National League will be chosen from that ballot, which launches at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, and after being announced as winners at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, they will have their uniforms distinguished with those stars for games through July 10.
Meanwhile, the MLB.com Shop is stocked with the official All-Star gear, from BP jerseys to caps to T-shirts and game programs. And between now and 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, you can take 17.76 percent off your order at the Shop with the site-wide Fourth of July weekend sale.
The 82nd Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports, in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and Sportsnet HD and Le Reseau des Sports, and around the world by Major League Baseball International, with pregame ceremonies beginning at 8 p.m. ET. ESPN Radio will provide exclusive national radio coverage. MLB Network, MLB.com and Sirius XM also will provide comprehensive All-Star Game coverage.
