ARLINGTON -- Designated hitter Michael Young set another new Rangers career offensive record on Thursday night when he scored his 959th run.
That moved him past Rafael Palmeiro for the most runs scored in Rangers history. He already holds the career marks for games played, at-bats, hits, doubles, triples and multi-hit games.
Young scored the record-breaking run on his own, with a home run over the Rangers' bullpen in right-center field in the fifth. It was his eighth home run of the year and gave the Rangers a 5-0 lead against the Athletics. Former Rangers pitcher Rich Harden gave up the home run.
