Vote for Phils All-Stars and tweet your choices
Make your voice heard for Ruiz with MLB.com's Tweet the Vote
NEW YORK -- It looks like Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz is the Phillies' best chance at a starting spot on the National League All-Star team.
While other perennial All-Stars like Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins are either injured or struggling, Ruiz was hitting .366 with 11 doubles, seven home runs, 29 RBIs, a .519 slugging percentage and a .419 on-base percentage heading into Wednesday's games. Ruiz ranked first among National League catchers in OPS (1.010), batting average and slugging percentage, and was tied for second in home runs and third in RBIs.
Ruiz has never made the All-Star team, and this would seem to be his best chance. Phillies fans can visit MLB.com's new Tweet the Vote page, which tracks and aggregates All-Star-related tweets. Fans can help Ruiz with a #votechooch hashtag.
