LHP Drew Pomeranz recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs
Club Options RHP Guillermo Moscoso to Triple-A Colorado Springs
DENVER – The Colorado Rockies announced today that the club has recalled left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz from Triple-A Colorado Springs. To make room on the Rockies active roster, Colorado has optioned right-handed pitcher Guillermo Moscoso to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Pomeranz (#13) will start today’s game against the Padres at 1:10 p.m. MDT.
Pomeranz, 23, will be making his second stint with the Rockies this season. The left-hander made five starts for Colorado from April 15 to May 7, going 0-2 with a 4.70 ERA (23.0 ip, 12 er), 15 walks and 20 strikeouts with an opponent average of .281 (25-for-89). Pomeranz was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on May 11 and made nine starts for the Sky Sox, going 4-4 with a 2.51 ERA (46.2 ip, 13 er), 20 walks and 46 strikeouts in those nine starts. The Collierville, TN native has a career Major League record of 2-3 with a 5.01 ERA (41.1 ip, 23 er) in nine career starts. Pomeranz was acquired by the Rockies at the trade deadline in 2011 and made his Major League debut with the Rockies on September 11, 2011 vs. Cincinnati.
Moscoso, 29, has made two starts and eight relief appearances this season for the Rockies, going 0-1 with a 8.23 ERA (27.1 ip, 25 er) in two stints with the Major League club. Moscoso has spent the remainder of his 2012 season with Triple-A Colorado Springs, going 4-3 with a 5.54 ERA (50.1 ip, 31 er), 9 walks and 42 strikeouts in nine starts. The Venezuela native is 8-11 with a 4.24 ERA (170.0 ip, 80 er) in 44 career appearances, 23 starts, in parts of four Major League seasons. He was acquired by Colorado along with left-handed pitcher Josh Outman from Oakland in exchange for Seth Smith on January 16, 2012.
