Texas Rangers extend player development agreement with Hickory Crawdads through 2014
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers today announced that the organization has extended its Player Development Agreement with the Low-A Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League through the 2014 season.
The Crawdads have been the South Atlantic League affiliate of the Rangers since the 2009 campaign. Hickory made the SAL Playoffs in two of the first three seasons with Texas and currently finds itself in the hunt for the 2012 postseason. The Crawdads are 71-62 overall in 2012, 35-29 in the season’s second half.
Hickory posted a league-best 79-58 record in 2011, including the franchise’s first 1st-Half Northern Division Championship since the 2003 season. Since the start of the Texas affiliation, the Crawdads have logged a winning record of 288-260.
"On behalf of our President Nolan Ryan and our General Manager Jon Daniels, I would like to thank the Crawdads Ownership and Management for providing us another opportunity to extend our affiliation," said Texas Rangers Senior Director of Player Development Tim Purpura. "We have enjoyed our time in Hickory and we look forward to much success in future years."
