SAN DIEGO -- A three-game series at Petco Park against the Yankees is one highlight of the 2013 Major League schedule, which was released Wednesday.
The Yankees haven't played a regular season game in San Diego since 2002 -- when the Padres played their games in Mission Valley, at Qualcomm Stadium. All told, the two teams have faced each other a total of nine times.
The Padres last played the Yankees in 2008 in the Bronx.
The Padres will face the Yankees on Aug. 2-4, followed by two games against the Orioles (Aug. 6-7). San Diego will also play host to the two other American League foes -- the Mariners (May 29-30) and the Blue Jays (May 31-June 2).
The Orioles and Blue Jays lasted visited Petco Park in 2010.
On the road, the Padres will face the Rays (May 10-12) followed by a series in Baltimore (May 14-15). The Padres will also play two games in Seattle on May 27-28 and will later visit Fenway Park for the second time in three years for a series against the Red Sox on July 2-4.
San Diego will open the season on the road against the Mets at Citi Field on April 1, the beginning of a six-game road trip that ends in Denver.
The home opener at Petco Park will come on April 9 against the Dodgers.
The longest homestand of the season will occur Aug. 15-25 with the Mets, Pirates and Cubs all coming to Petco Park.
San Diego will finish the 2013 regular season on the road with three games in San Francisco on Sept. 27-29.
