San Diego Padres release 2013 schedule
Home schedule includes first-ever visit to Petco Park by the New York Yankees
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres today released the club’s schedule for the 2013 regular season, which includes the first-ever visit to Petco Park by the New York Yankees. The team will open the season on the road against the New York Mets on Monday, April 1 and will continue on to Colorado for a three-game series against the Rockies before the home opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, April 9. Following the opening series, the Padres will host the Colorado Rockies for three games to close out the first homestand of the season.
Interleague play in 2013 will bring the New York Yankees to town (August 2-4) for the first time since the Padres have been playing at Petco Park, which opened in 2004. Additionally, the Padres will make their third-ever trip to Boston in 2013 (July 2-4). Interleague play will also include three home games against the Toronto Blue Jays (May 31-June 2), four games against the Baltimore Orioles, two at Camden Yards (May 14-15) and two at Petco Park (August 6-7), and four games against the Seattle Mariners, two at Safeco Field (May 27-28) and two at Petco Park (May 29-30).
Home weekends for the Padres in 2013 include series against the Nationals, Blue Jays, Yankees, Mets and Cubs, in addition to the four other National League West teams. San Diego will be home against Arizona on Father’s Day (June 16), and will host San Francisco on Labor Day (September 2).
The Padres will wrap up their home season hosting the Dodgers (September 20-22) and Diamondbacks (September 23-26), before going on the road for the three final games of the regular season in San Francisco (September 27-29).
