CLEVELAND -- A call at first base was challenged by the Red Sox and subsequently overturned during Wednesday night's game with the Indians.

With one out and a man on in the fifth inning, Tribe third baseman Mike Aviles hit a chopper to shortstop Stephen Drew, who fielded it and threw to first as Aviles approached the bag. First-base umpire Greg Gibson called Aviles safe.

Red Sox manager John Farrell used his manager's challenge. After review, the ruling on the field was overturned and Aviles was out on a 6-3 grounder.

Farrell challenged a pair of calls during Monday's series opener with the Indians, winning the first and losing the next.
