The Phillies completed their 2014 coaching staff on Wednesday, promoting former Major Leaguer John Mizerock to assistant hitting coach.

Mizerock, 53, coached the past three seasons with Class A Clearwater. Before joining the Phils in 2010, Mizerock spent 17 years in the Royals organization, including serving as bullpen coach (2002, 2008-09) and third-base coach (2003-04).

A 12-year Major League veteran, Mizerock appeared in games for the Astros (1983, '85-86) and Braves ('89). He was the No. 8 overall pick by Houston in the 1979 Draft out of Punxsutawney, Pa.
