  • MLB promotes Houlihan, Leece, McHugh to senior vice president roles

    Major League Baseball promoted three executives -- Patrick Houlihan, Jamie Leece and Barbara McHugh -- to Senior Vice President positions for the 2018 Championship Season. Houlihan is now MLB Senior Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, Labor Relations. Leece was promoted to MLB Senior Vice President, Games and VR. McHugh now holds the title of MLB Senior Vice President, Marketing.

  • Nationals' Max Scherzer named NL Player of the Week

    Washington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer has been named the National League Player of the Week presented by W.B. Mason for the period ending April 15th.

  • Astros' Justin Verlander named AL Player of the Week

    Starting pitcher Justin Verlander of the Houston Astros has been named the American League Player of the Week presented by W.B. Mason for the period ending April 15th.

  • Yankees-Red Sox discipline issued

    Discipline has been issued to pitcher Joe Kelly of the Boston Red Sox and first baseman Tyler Austin of the New York Yankees as a result of the bench-clearing incident that occurred in the top of the seventh inning of Wednesday night's game at Fenway Park.

  • MLB awards 2020 All-Star Game to Dodgers

    Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr. announced today that Major League Baseball has awarded the 2020 All-Star Game Presented by Mastercard and accompanying All-Star Week festivities to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 2020 Midsummer Classic will be the 91st edition in the event's history, which dates back to 1933.

  • Diamondbacks Minor Leaguer Herrera suspended

    The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Arizona Diamondbacks Minor League catcher Jose Herrera has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for Methylhexaneamine and Oxilofrine, stimulants in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

  • D-backs-Cardinals discipline issued

    Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his inappropriate actions in the top of the second inning of his Club's Sunday afternoon game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. In addition, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has received a one-game suspension for his actions during the incident, which included making contact with Umpire Tim Timmons. Joe Torre, Chief Baseball Officer for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

  • National Anthems, 1st pitches, community events announced for Puerto Rico Series

    Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association and MB Sports have announced the musical performances, ceremonial first pitches and community events that will celebrate the island of Puerto Rico during the two-game set between the Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, April 17th and Wednesday, April 18th at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan.
