Orioles' Rodrigo Lopez named AL Rookie of the Month for July

Baltimore Orioles hurler Rodrigo Lopez, who won all six of his starts in July, has been named the American League Rookie of the Month.

He posted a career-high eight strikeouts in back-to-back starts on July 19 vs. Chicago and then against the Red Sox. Lopez is 10-0 in night games this season.

Other outstanding rookies who received consideration were: Brendan Donnelly (0-0, 0.00, 12.0 IP, 16 SO) of the Angels, Kevin Mench (.253, 4 HR, 14 RBI) of Texas, Oakland's Mark Ellis (.293, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 18 R), Nick Johnson (.295, 3 HR, 10 RBI) of the New York Yankees, Jorge Julio (0-1, 0.00, 3 saves) of the Orioles, Minnesota's Bobby Kielty (.328, 3 HR, 9 RBI) and Detroit's George Lombard (.304, 4 HR, 8 RBI, 17 R).
