Oakland A's Bobby Crosby named American League Rookie of the Month for June
tickets for any Major League Baseball game
Oakland Athletics shortstop Bobby Crosby has been named the American League Rookie of the Month for June.

In 27 games, Crosby batted .337 (34-for-101) with three home runs, 12 RBI, 18 runs, 12 doubles, two stolen bases and 10 walks. He posted a .545 slugging percentage and a .402 on-base percentage. He posted nine multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 effort at St. Louis on June 15. The Athletics first-round selection in the 2001 First-Year Player Draft is batting .272 with 11 home runs and 33 RBI on the season.

Other rookies who excelled in June included Baltimore's David Newhan (12 G, .442, 4 HR, 13 RBI), Erik Bedard (2-0, 2.22 ERA) and Daniel Cabrera (2-2, 2.83 ERA); Minnesota's Joe Mauer (.254, 5 HR, 11 RBI) and Grant Balfour (2-0, 1.80 ERA); Boston's Kevin Youkilis (.286, 2 HR, 12 RBI); Toronto's Vinny Chulk (1.59 ERA, 2 saves) and Jason Frasor (1-1, 3.75 ERA, 4 saves); Frank Francisco (1-1, 2.84 ERA) of Texas; Shingo Takatsu (1-0, 0.77 ERA) of the Chicago White Sox; Cleveland's Matt Miller (2-0, 2.08 ERA); and Zack Greinke of Kansas City (1-4, 3.94 ERA).

Bobby Crosby will receive a specially designed trophy as June's American League Rookie of the Month.
