Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bobby Abreu, who led the league in seven offensive categories, has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week of May 9-15, 2005. Bank of America, the official bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect the bank's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

The left-handed hitting slugger paced the league in batting average (.583), home runs (6), RBI (12), slugging percentage (1.458), on-base percentage (.677), hits (14), and total bases (35). Abreu added eight runs, three doubles, seven walks and one stolen base over seven games played. He tied a Phillies club record by homering in five consecutive games, which has been done only twice before in team history. Abreu finished the week by homering in six of seven games and by collecting at least one hit in every game played.
