A trio of Minnesota Twins has swept Major League Baseball's June American League Monthly Awards -- the first time a team has won all three trophies in a month in the history of the balloting. Catcher Joe Mauer, 2004 A.L. Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana and rookie left-hander Francisco Liriano ran away with the June voting in all three categories. Their closest competition for an award was teammate Justin Morneau, who was the runner-up in the player voting.

Mauer topped the circuit with a .452 average (42-93 in 24 games). He slugged .624 slugging percentage with a .528 on-base percentage He drove in 14 runs and scored 18. His hits included 11 doubles, a triple and a home run. Mauer also walked 15 times and stole three bases.

Santana was 5-0 in June with a 1.05 earned run average. He allowed just 24 hits in 43 innings, while striking out 44 batters and walking only five. A.L. Rookie of the Month Francisco Liriano was the runner-up to Santana in the Pitcher of the Month voting. He went 4-1 in June with a 2.31 ERA. Liriano struck out 35 opposing hitters, walked seven and allowed 22 hits in 35 innings of work.

Morneau (.364, 29 RBI), Marcus Thames of Detroit (.309, 20 RBI) and Boston's David Ortiz (.277, 22 RBI) were the only other players to receive consideration on the June Player Ballots.

In addition to Santana and Liriano, three relievers - Bobby Jenks of the Chicago White Sox (10 saves, 0.60 ERA), B.J. Ryan of Toronto (9 saves, 0.00 ERA) and Oakland's Huston Street (10 saves, 2.12 ERA) - were named on Pitcher ballots.

Liriano was joined by Jason Kubel of the Twins, Nick Markakis of Baltimore, Jered Weaver and Mike Napoli of the Angels, Seattle's Kenji Johjima and Jonathan Papelbon and Jon Lester of Boston, all of whom excelled in June.

All three Twins will receive specially designed trophies as the American League Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Month of June.
