Francisco Liriano named American League Rookie of the Month
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

Minnesota Twins left-handed starter Francisco Liriano has been named the American League Rookie of the Month for July. This is Liriano's second consecutive A.L. Rookie of the Month Award.

In six starts, Liriano went 4-1 with a 1.51 ERA over 41.2 IP. The 23-year-old recorded 55 strikeouts and walked 13 over the course of the month. On July 2nd versus the Brewers, Liriano pitched eight scoreless innings, giving up just three hits while striking out 12 batters and walking one. In his next start on July 8th versus the Rangers in Arlington, Francisco went seven scoreless innings, giving up just four hits while striking out eight and walking three. The A.L. All-Star is currently 12-2 with a 1.96 ERA and has 137 strikeouts in 115.0 IP.

Other A.L. rookies who received consideration were pitcher Justin Verlander of Detroit (3-0, 1.01 ERA, 26.2 IP, 23 SO) and Baltimore's Nick Markakis (.403, 2 HR, 10 RBI). Liriano will receive a specially designed trophy as the American League Rookie of the Month.
