LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that they have been recognized for the third consecutive year by Guinness World Records Book as having registered the "Highest Cumulative Attendance for a Baseball Franchise." Since 1901, when Major League Baseball began tracking official attendance, the Dodgers have played before more fans than any other franchise in the sport's history with a cumulative attendance of 173,132,909.

"This is a true testament to the loyalty of our fans," said Dodger Vice Chairman and President Jamie McCourt. "The Dodgers have the greatest fans in all of baseball and it's an honor for us to share this recognition with each and every one of them."

The Dodgers also hold the mark for the "Greatest Attendance at a Baseball Series." That record was set in 1959 when the team drew 420,784 during a six-game series with the Chicago White Sox, en route to capturing its first World Championship in Los Angeles. At the time, the Dodgers played their home games at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The Dodgers have drawn three million fans for 11 consecutive seasons and a Major-League record 21 times overall. Last season they attracted 3,758,545 fans, establishing a new Dodger Stadium paid attendance record and once again leading the National League in attendance for the third consecutive season. The previous club record of 3,608,881 fans was set in 1982. Since Dodger Stadium opened in 1962, more than 122 million fans have attended Dodger games.

Tickets for the 2007 season opener sold out in under 15 minutes, but plenty of tickets for the remainder of the season can be obtained by calling (866) DODGERS, or visiting www.dodgers.com.
