OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A's today recalled left-handed pitcher Dallas Braden from Triple-A Sacramento. To clear a spot on the roster, the A's have designated infielder Todd Walker for assignment.
Braden started the season in the minors but was selected by the A's on April 23 and made his Major League debut on April 24 with a win at Baltimore. He went 1-1 with a 5.23 ERA in two starts with the A's before he was optioned to Sacramento on April 29 as the A's had three upcoming off days and did not need a fifth starter. Braden made one start with Sacramento following his option, a no decision on May 4 against Tucson (6.0 ip, 6 h, 1 r, 1 er, 4 bb, 5 so), and is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in four minor league starts this year.
Walker was signed by the A's to a minor league contract on March 30 after being released by San Diego. He made the A's Opening Day roster and hit .271 with no home runs and four RBI in 18 games. Walker started nine games at first base for the A's while Dan Johnson was on the Disabled List.
