Major League Baseball drew 639,628 fans to Saturday's 16 games, the second largest single-day attendance total in its history, according to research. The record for attendance for a single day was established on July 3, 1999, when 640,412 fans attended 17 games.

Overall, Major League Baseball remains on pace to establish an overall cumulative regular-season attendance record for the fourth consecutive year. Through yesterday's games, 46,348,998 fans attended games, 4.7 percent greater than the record-breaking 2006 season.
