D-backs sign reliever Bob Wickman
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today that they have signed righthanded pitcher Bob Wickman.

Wickman, 35, was 3-3 with a 3.92 ERA (19 ER in 43.2 IP) over 49 games with the Atlanta Braves this season, recording 20 saves in 26 save opportunities.

Wickman is 63-60 with a 3.58 ERA (419 ER in 1,052.1 IP) in 827 career games (28 starts) in parts of 15 Major League seasons. The 2-time All-Star was originally selected in the second round of the 1990 Draft by the Chicago White Sox. After beginning his Major League career with the New York Yankees, Wickman has also pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Indians and Braves.

In a corresponding move, the Diamondbacks designated righthanded pitcher Enrique Gonzalez for assignment. Gonzalez pitched in 27 games for Tucson (AAA), all starts, going 8-10 with a 5.15 ERA (88 ER in 153.2 IP) with 61 walks and 118 strikeouts. He also pitched in 1 game for the D-backs, a 2.0-inning relief stint on June 18 vs. Tampa.
