MLB announces World Series umpires
Ed Montague appointed crew chief for the 103rd Fall Classic

Ed Montague, a veteran of 32 years of Major League umpiring, will serve as the crew chief at the 2007 World Series and will call balls and strikes at Game One of the 2007 Fall Classic, it was announced today.
Montague's crew will include Laz Diaz (ninth year), Ted Barrett (11th year), Chuck Meriwether (16th year), Mike Everitt (ninth year) and regular season crew chief Mike Reilly (31st year).
This will mark the sixth World Series assignment for Montague, who most recently worked the 2004 Fall Classic. It is the San Francisco native's 21st postseason assignment.
Reilly will be on the field for his fourth World Series and his 18th playoff series, and Meriwether will work his second Fall Classic and his 11th postseason series. This is the first World Series for Barrett (eighth postseason series), Diaz (fourth postseason series) and Everitt (eighth postseason series). All six World Series umpires were assigned to 2007 Division Series games.
