The Orioles today announced that they have placed LHP Adam Loewen on the 15-day disabled list with left elbow soreness and selected the contract of INF Eider Torres from Triple-A Norfolk.

Loewen, 24, left his start in the third inning at Seattle on Thursday. He is 0-1 with a 7.85 ERA (18.1IP, 16ER) in four starts this season. He missed most of 2007 with a stress fracture in his left elbow.

Torres, 25, was batting .338 (25-74) with a .390 on-base percentage in 18 games for Norfolk this season. He was signed by the Orioles as Minor League free agent on Nov. 2, 2006.
