Gillette, a valued business partner of Major League Baseball since 1939, is now the presenting sponsor of the MLB Rookie of the Month Award which recognizes the top performing rookie in both the American League and National League. The MLB Rookie of the Month Award presented by Gillette is an on-going multiplatform marketing campaign involving Gillette, Major League Baseball and Major League Baseball Advanced Media.

Because of Gillette's involvement, fans, for the first time, will have a voice in selecting the Rookie of the Month winners by voting online each month at www.mlb.com/gillette. The online fan vote will represent 20% of the overall vote with the remaining votes coming from team baseball writers and Club broadcasters.

Nominees for the award are determined by on-field statistical criteria. Fans should visit www.mlb.com/gillette throughout the season to access information on the nominees, unique statistics, video clips and exclusive editorial content all focused around the rookie theme.

Voting will begin during the first week of each month to help determine the previous month's winners. Once voting is concluded, Gillette, MLB and MLBAM will announce the winning rookie for each League in a monthly press release and congratulate the winners online at www.mlb.com/gillette.

Gillette will present the award winners with a Rookie of the Month trophy following the announcement and make a donation to a charitable organization in the award recipient's name.

Fred Lynn (1975 AL Rookie of the Year) is conducting a Satellite Media Tour in New York today to help launch the program. Beginning at noon on Monday, May 5th fans can visit www.mlb.com/gillette and vote for April's winners of the MLB Rookie of the Month Award presented by Gillette. Each voter will be automatically entered for a chance to win a trip to the 2008 MLB All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium or to a game of the 2008 World Series, depending on the month of entry. On Friday, May 9th, the world will be introduced to the first monthly winners of the MLB Rookie of the Month Award presented by Gillette.

Gillette continues to make significant media commitments to national Major League Baseball rightsholders, This Week In Baseball presented by Aquafina, produced by Emmy award-winning Major League Baseball Productions, and to MLB Jewel Event publications created by MLB Properties. Gillette is also a participating sponsor of DHL All-Star FanFest, the interactive baseball theme park that opens Major League Baseball All-Star Week. This year, DHL All-Star FanFest will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City from Friday, July 11th through Tuesday, July 15th where Gillette will unveil their brand new MLB-themed All-Star Shower & Shave attraction.
