Matt Bourne named MLB VP of Business Public Relations

Matt Bourne has been named Vice President of Business Public Relations, Major League Baseball announced today.

Bourne will start his new position on Monday, May 5th and will report to Richard Levin, MLB's Senior Vice President, Public Relations. He will be responsible for handling public relations matters for Major League Baseball's business groups, which will include promotional activity around the 2008 MLB All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium and the launch of the MLB Network in January 2009.

Bourne joins Major League Baseball from the National Basketball Association, for which he served as Vice President of Marketing Communications. In that capacity, Bourne managed communications efforts for the NBA's marketing partnerships, international business, special events, global merchandising and other initiatives.

Bourne is a graduate of Marist College, where he was the captain of the school's baseball team in his junior and senior seasons. Bourne currently resides in Tappan, New York with his wife, Jenn, and their three children.
