Josh Hamilton of the Rangers has been named the 'Sharp Presents the American League Player of the Month' for April.

In 28 games, the 26-year-old Hamilton batted .330 (38-115) with six home runs and a Major League-high 32 RBIs. Hamilton, the top overall choice by Tampa Bay in the 1999 First-Year Player Draft, scored 16 runs and ended the month slugging .591. He collected 17 extra-base hits in April, including 10 doubles. The outfielder walked 11 times and had a .379 on-base percentage.

In his rookie season in 2007 with the Cincinnati Reds, Josh batted .292 with 19 homers and 47 RBIs in 90 games. The Raleigh, North Carolina native was acquired in the offseason in exchange for pitchers Edinson Volquez and Danny Ray Herrera. This is Josh's first career monthly award.

For setting the highest definition of excellence, Sharp, the presenting sponsor of the American League Player of the Month Award, presents Josh Hamilton with a 52" AQUOS®. Sharp AQUOS is the "Official High-Definition Television of Major League Baseball." Josh will also receive a specially designed trophy to mark his achievement.
