Right-handed pitcher Jason Knapp, the Phillies' second-round selection (71st overall) in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, has agreed to terms on a professional contract, Marti Wolever, Director of Scouting, announced today.

As a pitcher at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, NJ, the 17-year-old Knapp went 6-1 with a 1.37 ERA in 51.0 innings and was named The Star-Ledger's 2008 Pitcher of the Year. He struck out 79 batters while walking only 16.

Knapp, who stands at 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, also hit .456 with a .698 on-base percentage, seven home runs and 25 RBI in his senior season.

The Phillies have now signed 24 of the 53 players they selected earlier this month.
