Royals announce 25-man roster
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

The Kansas City Royals today announced their Opening Day roster for the 2009 season. The Royals established their roster by the 3:00 p.m. (EDT) deadline today, then made a pair of moves after the deadline in preparation for tomorrow's opener. After the 25-man roster limit became effective at the 3:00 p.m. (EDT) deadline, the Royals purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Jamey Wright from Omaha and designated outfielder Shane Costa for assignment.

The Royals currently have 36 players on their 40-man roster.

The 2009 Opening Day roster:

PITCHERS (11) -Juan Cruz, Kyle Davies, Kyle Farnsworth, Zack Greinke, Ron Mahay (L), Gil Meche, Horacio Ramirez (L), Joakim Soria, Robinson Tejeda, Doug Waechter and Jamey Wright.

CATCHERS (3) - John Buck, Miguel Olivo and Brayan Pena.

INFIELDERS (8) - Mike Aviles, Billy Butler, Alberto Callaspo, Alex Gordon, Mike Jacobs, Tony Pena, Jr. and Mark Teahen.

OUTFIELDERS (3) - Willie Bloomquist, Coco Crisp, David DeJesus and Jose Guillen.
