Arlington, Texas -- The Texas Rangers announced that tonight's scheduled contest against the Oakland Athletics has been postponed due to heavy rainfall and a forecast that calls for continued precipitation over the next several hours. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader between the Rangers and Athletics on Friday, May 29 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, with the first contest beginning at 4:05 p.m.
Fans holding tickets for tonight's game (dated Wednesday, April 29, 2009) will be able to exchange them for any future game on the Rangers 2009 home schedule, including the May 29 doubleheader. Tickets may be exchanged at any Rangers Ballpark in Arlington ticket window or through the mail.
This marks the first rain out for Texas this season, as the game was called at 8:05 p.m. after a delay of exactly one hour. The club had a pair of games postponed by rain in 2008: April 9 vs. Baltimore (Rangers Ballpark) and June 14 at New York-NL (Shea Stadium).
