Colorado Rockies utilityman Ian Stewart, who led the National League with four home runs and 12 RBI, has been named National League Player of the Week presented by Bank of America for the period ending June 7th. Bank of America is the Official Bank of Major League Baseball and the only place where you can get your favorite Club logo on checks, check cards or credit cards. Last week Stewart paced the National League with 12 hits, nine runs, a 1.080 slugging percentage and 27 total bases. His four home runs topped Major League Baseball. The 24-year-old hit .480 (12-25) with three doubles and posted a .500 on-base percentage. Ian hit three 3-run home runs in four days (6/3 at HOU and 6/5-6 at STL). On June 6th at St. Louis, he recorded his third career multi-home run game and his second of the season (previous: 5/12 vs. HOU) with two home runs and five RBI. Stewart put together a streak of five consecutive multi-hit games from June 3rd through June 7th, and added three multi-RBI performances. This marks Ian's first career weekly award.

San Francisco's Randy Johnson (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 H) became the 24th pitcher in history to record his 300th career victory on June 4th at Washington.

Other nominees this past week included Stewart's Rockies' teammate Clint Barmes (.419, 1 HR, 7 RBI); Arizona's Stephen Drew (.417, 4 2B, 1 RBI); Carlos Zambrano (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 7 SO) of the Cubs; Cincinnati's Laynce Nix (.321, 3 HR, 8 RBI); Florida's Dan Uggla (.333, 2 HR, 6 RBI); Houston's Carlos Lee (.407, 2 HR, 9 RBI); Andre Ethier (.370, 3 HR, 5 RBI) of the Dodgers; Milwaukee's Yovani Gallardo (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 6 SO); David Wright (.450, 4 2B, 4 RBI) of the Mets; Philadelphia's Antonio Bastardo (2-0, 2.45 ERA, 9 SO); Pittsburgh's Matt Capps (3 SV, 0.00 ERA, 2 H); Chris Carpenter (1-0, 1 CG, 0.71 ERA) of the Cardinals; and Washington's John Lannan (1-0, 1 CG, 0.00 ERA).
