Florida Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez and San Diego Padres pitcher Chad Gaudin have been named National League Co-Players of the Week presented by Bank of America for the period ending June 28th. Bank of America is the Official Bank of Major League Baseball and the only place where you can get your favorite Club logo on checks, check cards or credit cards. Last week, Ramirez led the National League with 15 RBI and 22 total bases, tied for first with three home runs and ranked third with a .846 slugging percentage. The 25-year-old Ramirez hit .385 (10-26) and posted a .429 on-base percentage with three doubles, two stolen bases and five runs scored. The 2006 N.L. Rookie of the Year connected for his second and third grand slams of the season and his career on June 23rd and June 25th vs. Baltimore. In Interleague Play, Ramirez led Major League Baseball with 24 RBI and he paced N.L. players with 24 hits. Ramirez (.333, 12 HR, 51 RBI, 11 SB), the N.L.'s starting shortstop in the 2008 All-Star Game, is currently bidding for his second straight start in the Midsummer Classic, leading balloting at his position. This marks Hanley's second career weekly honor (previous: 7/8/07).

The 26-year-old Gaudin went 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA, allowing two earned runs and recording 20 strikeouts in his 15.0 innings. On June 23rd at Seattle, Chad tied a career-high with 11 strikeouts in 7.0 innings (previous: 9/30 with OAK, vs. LAA). On June 28th at Texas, he tossed 8.0 scoreless, one-hit innings, walking two and striking out nine. The New Orleans native became the third pitcher, and the first visitor, to allow one or zero hits in an outing of eight innings or more at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. This marks Chad's first career weekly honor.

Other nominees this past week included Ramirez's Marlins' teammate Dan Uggla (.348, 2 HR, 3 RBI); Gaudin's Padres' teammate Everth Cabrera (.350, 3 RBI); Arizona's Stephen Drew (.435, 1 HR, 4 RBI); Atlanta's Tommy Hanson (2-0, 0.00 ERA, 6 SO); Jake Fox (.360, 2 HR, 6 RBI) of the Cubs; Cincinnati's Jonny Gomes (.364, 2 HR, 6 RBI); Colorado's Aaron Cook (2-0, 1.20 ERA, 8 SO); Houston's Lance Berkman (.389, 2 HR, 7 RBI); Andre Ethier (.667 SLG, 3 HR, 7 RBI) of the Dodgers; Milwaukee's Prince Fielder (.318, 2 HR, 6 RBI); Francisco Rodriguez (2 SV, 3 SO) of the Mets; Philadelphia's Jayson Werth (.474, 3 HR, 5 RBI); Pittsburgh's Adam LaRoche (.458, 2 HR, 5 RBI); Joel Pineiro (15.2 IP, 1.72 ERA, 1 CG) of the Cardinals; San Francisco's Nate Schierholtz (.500, 2 HR, 3 RBI); and Washington's Willie Harris (.348, 2 HR, 4 RBI).

Tourneau, the world's largest watch store, will award both Hanley Ramirez and Chad Gaudin with a luxury Swiss Timepiece, suitably engraved, in recognition of their accomplishments as the National League Co-Players of the Week presented by Bank of America.
