Padres recall Frieri, Durango from San Antonio
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

San Diego, CA -- The San Diego Padres today announced they have recalled right-handed pitcher Ernesto Frieri and outfielder Luis Durango from Double-A San Antonio. Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made the announcement.

Frieri, 24, spent the entire season with the Missions, going 10-9 with a 3.59 ERA (56 ER/140.1 IP) and 118 strikeouts in 27 games (26 starts). He limited opponents to a .237 average while striking out 7.57 per 9.0 innings pitched. Originally signed by the Padres as a non-drafted free agent in 2003, Frieri has gone 37-25 with a 3.14 ERA (191 ER/548.0 IP) in 201 games (59 starts) over parts of seven minor league seasons.

Durango, 23, was also signed by the Padres as a non-drafted free agent in 2003. He hit .281 (128-for-456) with San Antonio this year, collecting nine doubles, two triples, 25 RBI and 78 runs scored in 129 games. Durango led his team and ranked second in the Texas league with 44 stolen bases in 61 attempts (72.1 percent). Over parts of six minor league seasons in the Padres organization, he has hit .320 (520-for-1,627) with 39 doubles, 19 triples, three home runs, 127 RBI, 321 runs scored and 122 stolen bases in 456 games.

Frieri (#39) and Durango (#3) will both be active for tonight's game against the Diamondbacks. With today's moves, the Padres now have 32 players on their active roster.
