ANAHEIM, CA -- Angels' outfielder Torii Hunter, who hit a career-best .299 with 22 home runs and 90 RBI in 119 games, was named a recipient of the 2009 Louisville Silver Slugger Award© which is given to the best offensive players at each position in both the American and National Leagues. The award is the first of Hunter's career and the 10th this decade for the Angels (V. Guerrero - 4, G. Anderson - 2, T. Glaus - 2 & D. Erstad - 1).

Hunter, who was also honored with his 9th consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove© on Tuesday, was also named to the 2009 A.L. All-Star team (3rd time) and honored with the Branch Rickey Award for exceptional community service.

The Louisville Silver Slugger Award© is voted on by managers and coaches from each league. Selections are based on a combination of offensive statistics for the 2009 season and general impressions of a player's overall offensive value. Managers and coaches cannot vote for players from their own team.
