St. Louis Cardinals center fielder Colby Rasmus has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for the period of May 31-June 6, 2010. Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect Bank of America's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

Rasmus led the Majors with a 1.000 slugging percentage last week, while his .500 (11-22) batting average, three home runs, .577 on-base percentage and 22 total bases were tied for second among National Leaguers. The lefty slugger was third in the N.L. with nine RBI and was tied for third with eight runs scored while adding two doubles and a stolen base. The first-round choice (28th overall) in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft hit safely in five of six games this week, which included four multi-hit performances. On Friday, June 4th, Rasmus went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI to help the Cards defeat Milwaukee 8-0 in the first game of a three-game set at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. On Saturday, June 5th, the Alabama native's game-winning RBI single in the 11th inning capped a 3-for-4, three-RBI effort and a 5-4 win over the Brew Crew. On Sunday, the 23-year-old launched his 10th homer of the season before leaving the game due to tightness in his left calf. This is Colby's first career weekly award.

Other nominees this past week included Colby's Cardinals teammates Adam Wainwright (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 8 SO, CG shutout vs. MIL on 6/4) and Albert Pujols (.381, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 3 SB); Florida's Chris Coghlan (.533, 16 H, 4 2B, 7 R) and Ronny Paulino (.320, 8 RBI); Atlanta's Troy Glaus (.308, 4 HR, 10 RBI) and Tommy Hanson (2-0, 2.13 ERA, 12.2 IP); Houston's Lance Berkman (.400, 12 H, 10 RBI) and Carlos Lee (.296, 3 HR, 8 RBI); San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez (.440, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 11 H), Chase Headley (.462, 12 H, 7 R) and Nick Hundley (.474, 9 H, .545 OBP); David Wright (.500, 2 HR, 11 H, 2 SB) of the New York Mets; Washington's Ryan Zimmerman (.368, 9 R, 7 H, 11 BB, .594 OBP); and Colorado ace Ubaldo Jimenez (2-0, 1.13 ERA, 1 CG, 17 SO, 16.0 IP).
