American League All-Star manager Ron Washington of the Texas Rangers and National League All-Star manager Bruce Bochy of the San Francisco Giants today announced the managers who will serve as their coaches at the 82nd All-Star Game, to be played on Tuesday, July 12th at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

Washington, a coach for Jim Leyland at the 2007 Midsummer Classic in San Francisco, has invited Cleveland Indians manager Manny Acta and Toronto Blue Jays manager John Farrell to serve as the A.L. coaches. Farrell filled the pitching coach capacity for the A.L. at the 2008 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium, while he was in that role with the Boston Red Sox. Washington's Rangers coaches - Dave Anderson, Thad Bosley, Andy Hawkins, Mike Maddux, Jackie Moore and Gary Pettis - will assist with batting practice and other field duties. Rick McWane, the head athletic trainer of the Minnesota Twins, and Brian Ball, the assistant athletic trainer of the Chicago White Sox, will round out the A.L. staff.

Bochy, who previously served as N.L. All-Star manager at the 1999 All-Star Game in Boston and has been an N.L. coach in the Midsummer Classic four times, has asked Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson and Washington Nationals skipper Jim Riggleman to be the N.L. coaches. Gibson is the only Most Valuable Player in baseball history who did not play in the Midsummer Classic. Riggleman previously was a coach under Felipe Alou at the 1995 All-Star Game in Texas. Bochy's San Francisco coaches - Tim Flannery, Mark Gardner, Roberto Kelly, Hensley Meulens, Dave Righetti and Ron Wotus - will comprise his staff along with head athletic trainer Ken Crenshaw of the D-backs and assistant athletic trainer Dan Wright of the Milwaukee Brewers.

The 82nd Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports, in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and Sportsnet HD and Le Reseau des Sports, and around the world by Major League Baseball International, with pregame ceremonies beginning at 8:00 p.m. (EDT)/5:00 p.m. (PDT). ESPN Radio and ESPN Radio Deportes will provide exclusive national radio coverage. MLB Network, MLB.com and Sirius XM also will provide comprehensive All-Star Game coverage.
