Hunter stands pat in All-Star balloting
Twins outfielder holds down seventh place among outfielders
By Mark Sheldon / MLB.com
Hunter had his name cast on 535,051 ballots at last check, which kept him where he was last week -- seventh place. Red Sox power hitter Manny Ramirez (1,261,827), the Mariners' Ichiro Suzuki (1,219,510) and the Angels' Vladimir Guerrero (1,198,198) remained the top three vote-getters among American League outfielders.
Named the American League's Player of the Week on June 13, Hunter is batting .274 with 11 home runs, 42 RBIs and 16 stolen bases through 64 games. He is also a reigning four-time AL Gold Glove winner.
Twins outfielder Jacque Jones and catcher Joe Mauer have dropped off the leaderboard since last week. But there is still time to get them, and Hunter, more votes.
In-stadium balloting at the Metrodome ended on June 17, but fans can continue to vote online through June 30.
Fan voting will determine starting position players for the 2005 All-Star Game on July 12 at Detroit's Comerica Park. Voters online can cast their votes up to 25 times in the Ameriquest All-Star Online Ballot, which is available exclusively at MLB.com and all 30 of the club sites.
