Futures roster undergoes changes
U.S. adds Iannetta, Lerew, Maholm to replace callups

Iannetta, the Colorado Rockies' fourth-round selection in the 2004 draft, takes the place of Willingham, who was recalled by the Florida Marlins shortly after being named to the Futures Game roster. The former North Carolina Tar Heel was hitting .278 with six homers and 40 RBIs in 56 games with Class A Modesto.
Lerew and Maholm got their opportunity when Snell and Duke were both called up to Pittsburgh to replace injured Pirates hurlers Mike Gonzalez and Oliver Perez.
Lerew was taken in the 11th round by the Atlanta Braves in 2001 and was a combined 24-20 with a 2.79 ERA in his first four professional seasons. The 6-foot-3 right-hander earned Southern League All-Star honors this year by going 6-2 with a 3.93 ERA in 14 starts for Double-A Mississippi before being promoted to Richmond in late June.
Maholm is another top pitching prospect in the Pirates organization. The eighth overall pick in the 2003 draft, Maholm has made a successful comeback from a devastating injury in 2004, when he was struck in the face by a line drive that broke his nose and orbital bone.
The former Mississippi State University southpaw is 5-2 with a 3.01 ERA at Double-A Altoona and just turned in the best outing of his young career, tossing eight shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out eight against Portland on Thursday.
