Santana, relievers combine to no-hit Estrellas

Dominican Winter League

Licey 2, Oriente 0
The Angels' Ervin Santana combined with Pittsburgh's Damaso Marte and the Cubs' Carlos Marmol to no-hit Oriente on Monday night in the DWL playoffs. Santana, who went six innings, struck out nine and walked two, while Marte and Marmol whiffed three apiece. Licey (10-6) got all the runs it needed in the fourth when Washington's Ronnie Belliard tripled and scored on an error. Box score

Cibao 3, Cibaenes 2
Agustin Septimo's two-out double in the bottom of the ninth inning scored his Florida teammate Jose Campusano with the winning run as the Gigantes (6-10) edged the Aguilas (9-7) in round-robin playoff action on Monday night. Box score

Venezuelan Winter League

Aragua 10, Anzoategui 7
Miguel Cabrera's two-run single in the keyed a four-run eighth inning as Aragua stormed back to top the Caribes (4-7) and win their sixth straight playoff game. Detroit's Cabrera was 4-for-5 with four RBIs on the night, while Texas' Edgardo Alfonzo slammed two homers for the Tigres (8-3). Box score

La Guaira 5, Lara 2
Milwaukee's Ruben Mateo had three hits, including a home run, to lead the Tiburones (4-6) past the Cardenales (7-3) in the VWL playoffs. Lara had won three in a row prior to the contest. Houston's Stephen Randolph allowed six hits and one run in five innings, before giving way to the 'pen, to collect the win. Box score
