Stewart has a right ankle sprain and is listed as day-to-day.
Leading off for Toronto in the first, Stewart grounded a 1-2 pitch from Baltimore starter Jeremy Guthrie to the left side of the infield. Orioles third baseman Aubrey Huff scooped the ball, but his throw drew first baseman Kevin Millar off the bag. As Stewart tried to avoid a collision with Millar, he rolled his right ankle on the turf. Stewart was called out on the play.
While Stewart was on the ground for a few minutes, television cameras showed him experiencing visible pain. However, while limping, he was able to leave the field under his own power.
In 51 games for the Jays this year entering Saturday, Stewart was hitting .241 with one home run, four doubles and 14 RBIs.
Replacing Stewart in the game was Vernon Wells, who was just returning from a broken right wrist that forced him to the disabled list. Wells took over in center field, while Alex Rios moved from center to right field. Brad Wilkerson, who started the game in right, was moved to left field.
