By Michael Schwartz / MLB.com
Nov. 17, 1975 -- Acquired Dusty Baker (OF) and Ed Goodson (1B) from the Braves for Jimmy Wynn (OF), Tom Paciorek (OF), Lee Lacy (OF) and Jeffy Royster (IF) -- Baker provided pop during his eight seasons in Los Angeles, driving in 586 runs.June 15, 1976 -- Acquired Reggie Smith (OF) from the Cardinals for Joe Ferguson (C), Bob Detherage (OF) and Fred Tisdale (P) -- Smith placed twice among the top four in MVP voting during his five years in Los Angeles. Jan. 11, 1977 -- Acquired Rick Monday (OF) and Mike Garman (P) from the Cubs for Bill Buckner (1B), Ivan DeJesus (SS) and Jeff Albert (P) -- Monday played the final eight seasons of his career in Los Angeles, including his 19-homer, 57-RBI year in 1978. April 7, 1979 -- Acquired Jerry Reuss (P) from the Pirates for Rick Rhoden (P) -- Reuss hurled a no-hitter in 1980. Dec. 11, 1987 -- Acquired Alfredo Griffin (IF), Jay Howell (P) and Jesse Orosco (P) in a three-team deal with the A's and Mets for Bob Welch (P), Jack Savage (P) and Matt Young (P) -- This deal provided the quality depth for the Dodgers' 1988 championship. Dec. 4, 1988 -- Acquired Eddie Murray from the Orioles for Juan Bell (IF), Brian Holton (P) and Ken Howell (P) -- The future Hall of Famer Murray drove in 279 runs in three seasons in Los Angeles. Nov. 17, 1993 -- Acquired Delino DeShields (2B) from the Expos for Pedro Martinez (P) -- This arguably marks the worst deal in Dodgers history as Martinez went on to make eight All-Star teams and become one of the most dominant pitchers of his era. Aug. 18, 1995 -- Acquired Brett Butler (OF) from the Mets for Scott Hunter (OF) and Dwight Maness (OF) -- The Dodgers reacquired a player who had been a fixture in Los Angeles the four previous seasons, stealing 145 bases during those years. May 15, 1998 -- Acquired Bobby Bonilla (IF), Jim Eisenreich (OF), Charles Johnson (C), Gary Sheffield (OF) and Manuel Bariros (P) from the Marlins for Mike Piazza (C) and Todd Zeile (IF) -- The Dodgers rolled the dice by dealing Piazza, who had made six straight All-Star teams for Los Angeles, in this blockbuster. July 4, 1998 -- Acquired Jeff Shaw (P) from the Reds for Paul Konerko (IF) and Dennis Reyes (P) -- The Dodgers dealt away a prospect in Konerko who ended up becoming a three-time All-Star. Nov. 8, 1999 -- Acquired Shawn Green (OF) and Jorge Nunez (IF) from the Blue Jays for Raul Mondesi (OF) and Pedro Borbon (P) -- Green surpassed the 40-homer and 110-RBI platforms twice with the Dodgers. July 30, 2004 -- Acquired Brad Penny (P), Hee-Seop Choi (IF) and Bill Murphy (P) from the Marlins for Guillermo Mota (P), Paul Lo Duca (C) and Juan Encarnacion (OF) -- Trading Lo Duca was unpopular in the clubhouse at the time, but Penny has become a stud pitcher for the Dodgers. July 31, 2006 -- Acquired Greg Maddux (P) and cash considerations from the Cubs for Cesar Izturis (IF) -- The future Hall of Famer went 6-3 in 12 starts after the Deadline deal, but his impact could best be felt by what the rest of the staff learned from him.
