Those were the results of an MRI taken in San Diego this week. Reineke, 26, did not travel with the team from Los Angeles to Milwaukee because of shoulder soreness. He won't require surgery.
"He should be ready by Spring Training," Padres manager Bud Black said before Saturday's game with the Brewers. "There's nothing you can really do except rest [and] rehab."
Reineke (2-1) was acquired from Houston in the Randy Wolf trade in July and made his Major League debut with four appearances in August, including three starts. He compiled a 5.00 ERA with 14 hits, 13 strikeouts and 12 walks in 18 innings.
"What he needs to improve on is the command of the fastball, which a lot of young pitchers coming up through the Minor Leagues always have to improve on," Black said. "He's a guy we'll look at next spring, maybe a part of a bullpen situation or a spot starter."
