Brewers manager Dale Sveum had resisted naming his choice for Saturday's game against the Phillies, which will be Milwaukee's first home playoff game since Game 5 of the 1982 World Series. But Bush became the likely candidate when veteran pitcher Jeff Suppan told a reporter this week that he was preparing for Game 4.Briefly demoted to the Minor Leagues after going 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in April, Bush rebounded to finish the year 9-10 with a 4.18 ERA. He went 7-3 over his final 18 games (one of them was a relief appearance) with a 3.23 ERA and was charged with three or fewer earned runs in 13 of those 17 starts. Bush's 1.14 WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) was fifth best in the National League this season. He has a 5.88 ERA but no decisions in six career starts against the Phillies, including two this season. CC Sabathia was scheduled to start Game 2 for the Brewers on Thursday night. The Brewers lost Game 1 on Wednesday, 3-1.
