Dempster available in 'pen for Game 3
Losing pitcher in Game 1 would start a Game 5 in Chicago

Dempster was there to back up starter Rich Harden, who started Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The losing pitcher in Game 1, Dempster said he'd chip in any way needed.
"I'll do whatever they want me to do to win a game," Dempster said. "Whatever you need me to do. If you need me to throw five [innings], I'll throw five. If you need me to face one hitter, I'll face one hitter. It's about this game Saturday and that's it. We have to look at it that way and hopefully we'll find ourselves in a position to play [Sunday]."
Dempster spent three seasons as the Cubs' closer before returning to the rotation this year, so it's not unusual for him to be in the 'pen.
"I'm here for one reason and that's to win," Dempster said.
The Cubs trail the best of five series, 2-0, and needed to win Saturday to force a Game 4. If there is a Game 5, Dempster would start, Cubs manager Lou Piniella said. Saturday would've been Dempster's throw day. If there is a Game 4, Ted Lilly will start and Carlos Zambrano would be in the bullpen if needed.
