Madson to start seventh frame for Phils

Righty will relieve Hamels when Rays bat again in Game 5

PHILADELPHIA -- Though not revealing his pinch-hitter to face Tampa Bay righty Grant Balfour, manager Charlie Manuel said Ryan Madson will start the seventh inning for the Phillies when Game 5 of the World Series resumes Wednesday night at 8:37 ET.

Complete Coverage
Madson, who has owned the eighth inning in September, will be scheduled to face switch-hitter Dioner Navarro and right-handed hitters Rocco Baldelli and Jason Bartlett.

Manuel wouldn't commit to how long he might use his righty reliever, but it could be more than one inning.

The bottom of the sixth inning could feature a series of moves, starting with Manuel's potential choice of left-handed hitters Geoff Jenkins, Greg Dobbs or Matt Stairs to pinch-hit. Rays manager Joe Maddon could go to lefty David Price, forcing Manuel to send up a right-handed hitter.
