By Jordan Bastian / MLB.com
The 31-year-old Walrond appeared in six games for the World champion Phillies last season, finishing 1-1 with a 6.10 ERA. The southpaw spent the majority of the 2008 campaign in the Minors, posting a 6-9 record with a 3.61 ERA in 28 games, including 17 starts, between stints with Triple-A Iowa and Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Walrond has appeared in 23 Major League games between tours with the Royals (2003), Cubs (2006) and Phillies, going 1-4 with a 7.07 ERA in those outings. The lefty is currently pitching for Navegantes del Magallanes in the Venezuelan Winter League, where he is 1-1 with a 2.12 ERA over four starts.
The Jays placed Walrond on their 40-man roster one day after a vacancy opened when catcher Gregg Zaun filed for free agency. Toronto's roster is now at capacity.
