Orioles non-tender Cabrera, Cormier
By Spencer Fordin / MLB.com
Cabrera had spent his entire career with the Orioles, signing with the organization out of the Dominican Republic and advancing through the farm system.
The right-hander had been a rotation mainstay for the Orioles, making at least 26 starts and pitching 140 innings in each of the last five years. Cabrera has a 48-59 record and a 5.05 ERA for his career, and he's led the American League in walks in two of the last three seasons. Last year, he went 6-5 with a 4.33 ERA before the All-Star Game and 2-5 with a 7.59 mark after it.
Baltimore has just one starter pencilled into next year's rotation and is trying to add at least two veterans by trade or free agency this winter. Jeremy Guthrie remains the only surefire member of the starting staff, and Baltimore will look to supplement homegrown arms like Garrett Olson and Radhames Liz with someone more experienced.
Cormier spent last season with the Orioles as a long reliever, posting a 3-3 record and a 4.02 ERA in 45 appearances. The right-hander allowed 78 hits and walked 34 batters in 71 2/3 innings of work, finishing 10 games for Baltimore.
