None of the four -- former Twins and Red Sox outfielder Bobby Kielty, former Yankees and Braves pitcher Matt DeSalvo and former Brewers reliever Valerio De Los Santos are the others -- enjoyed particularly productive years last season. Each has been invited to the Major League camp.
Armas Jr., 30, had a 1-0 record with a 7.56 ERA in three appearances with the Mets in 2008. He won his lone start, on July 1 against the Cardinals. He had a 5-7 record and a 2.54 ERA in 17 starts with the Mets' Triple-A New Orleans affiliate.
Kielty, 32, hasn't played in the Major Leagues since he hit a pinch-hit home run for the Red Sox in the eighth inning of Game 4 of the 2007 World Series. That at-bat was his only appearance in the Series.
He played last season with Minor League teams of the Red Sox and Twins, batting .233 with five home runs and 32 RBIs in 163 at-bats with four teams.
DeSalvo, 28, had a 31.50 ERA in two relief appearances for Braves last season, allowing seven runs and 11 hits in two innings. He had a 2-11 record and 4.87 ERA in eight starts and 26 relief appearances with the Braves' Triple-A Richmond team. He pitched for the Yankees in 2007.
De los Santos, 36 and left-handed, made two starts with the Rockies last season. He produced a 0-1 record and a 5.63 ERA. In eight starts with their Triple-A Colorado Springs team, he produced a 5.63 ERA and a 4-5 record.
