Mets like Pudge, but don't have room
Assistant GM Bernazard says Rodriguez blocked by two other catchers

"Some of us wished we could have him with us, but the truth is that we have two catchers under contract," Bernazard told El Nuevo Dia. "It's not so easy to make a move right now to make it possible to have him with us."
The Mets have Brian Schneider and Ramon Castro, but have expressed interest in an upgrade over Castro, who missed more than a month of the 2008 season with a hamstring problem, then spent additional time on the disabled list with a quadriceps strain.
The 36-year-old Rodriguez, a 14-time All-Star in 18 Major League seasons, is playing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic. On Wednesday he was named Most Valuable Player of Pool D, part of the Classic's first round played in San Juan. He hit .545 (6-for-11) with two home runs, five RBIs and 13 total bases in three games, all won by Puerto Rico.
Rodriguez finished last season with the Yankees after 4 1/2 seasons with the Tigers, one with the Marlins and 12 with the Rangers.
