"Maybe I'll manage the Phillies for 25 years," he said.
Manuel, 65, missed Grapefruit League games on Saturday and Tuesday for undisclosed personal reasons, which had some wondering if he was having health issues. But Manuel, a kidney cancer survivor who has also survived a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery, said Wednesday he had a stress test Saturday and an angiogram Tuesday.
"My heart is absolutely fine," he said. "My blood is perfect."
Manuel said he was having the tests in preparation for a colonoscopy. He had diverticulitis in the spring of 2000.
"That's required every eight to 10 years," Manuel said of the colonoscopy. "I'm fine."
He said he is unsure when he will have the colonoscopy.
