Sanchez could miss start Wednesday
Southpaw burns index finger on throwing hand; Renteria could return

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Jonathan Sanchez burned his left index finger in a kitchen accident and might have to miss his scheduled start in Wednesday's Cactus League finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday.
Bochy described the burn as "little," but that's enough to become a blister, which would sideline the left-hander. Asked if Sanchez still would be ready for the regular season, Bochy replied, "We hope." Sanchez, the Giants' projected No. 5 starter, would pitch his first regular-season game April 11 at San Diego.
Sanchez thrived in his most recent Cactus League outing. He allowed two runs and seven hits, walked none and struck out six in seven innings last Friday as the Giants defeated Cleveland, 10-3.
In other injury-related news, Bochy said that shortstop Edgar Renteria, who has missed three consecutive games with a sore right elbow, is expected to resume playing Wednesday.
