Argument leads to Girardi's ejection
Yankees' manager tossed following Jeter's strikeout
By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com
Girardi was tossed after Derek Jeter was rung up on a called third strike for the second out of the frame on a pitch from Red Sox left-hander Jon Lester of which Jeter jumped out of the way.
Johnny Damon followed the ejection with a two-run homer to right field, and Mark Teixeira sent the next pitch over the wall in left-center, cutting the Yankees' deficit to 4-3.
The ejection was Girardi's first of the season and his third since taking over as the Yankees' manager before the 2008 season. Girardi was also ejected twice while managing the Marlins in 2006 and three times as a player.
