Brewers deal for reliever Weathers
Milwaukee to send player to be named to Cincinnati

"It's a good day, but, to be honest with you, it's a tough day emotionally, because you form a lot of bonds, a lot of trust with guys you've been with for five or six years. You just don't find that every day, especially in this game."
Milwaukee hopes Weathers will provide more consistency and take some of the pressure and work load off some of its middle relievers, helping to bridge the gap between the starters and late relievers Todd Coffey and Trevor Hoffman. He becomes the third pitcher the Brewers have added to their bullpen in the past week. The team added right-handers Claudio Vargas and Jesus Colome earlier on the nine-game road trip that ended Sunday."He's was [the Reds'] eighth-inning guy, so it will be nice to be able to give Coffey a blow every once in awhile," Brewers manager Ken Macha said. It marks the second time that Weathers will pitch with Milwaukee, as he was with the club from 1998-2001 before being dealt to the Cubs before the Trade Deadline in '01. In his four years with the Brewers, Weathers was 17-14 with a 3.41 ERA in 212 appearances. "Initially, [I was] excited to go to a team that really has a good shot to get back into the playoffs, to get back into that atmosphere," Weathers said. "A team I've already played for. I really enjoyed Milwaukee. I'm excited about going there -- big time." Weathers, 39, is in his 19th Major League season and has a career ERA of 4.24 in 939 games with nine different teams.
